Shri Ashtalakshmi Stotram: Mantra with Meaning
Ashtalakshmi Stotram is the hymn in the praise of Goddess Lakshmi in her eight forms. The eight forms are Adi Lakshmi, Dhanya Lakshmi, Dhairya Lakshmi, Gaja Lakshmi, Santana Lakshmi, Vijaya Lakshmi, Vidya Lakshmi, and Dhana Lakshmi. Goddess Lakshmi is commonly known as Goddess of wealth. But that wealth doesn’t only imply money. She is the Goddess of wealth, fame, knowledge, courage, victory, children, valor, happiness, morality, good health, beauty, intelligence, bliss and liberation, i.e., all the material and spiritual happiness.
Recitation of this stotra with full faith and pure heart pleases the Mother (Goddess), and she will bestow upon us all kinds of auspiciousness and accomplishments.

Goddess Lakshmi and Her Eight Forms

॥ श्री अष्टलक्ष्मीस्तोत्रम् ॥
सुमनसवन्दित सुन्दरि माधवि चन्द्र सहोदरि हेममये
मुनिगणमण्डित मोक्षप्रदायनि मञ्जुळभाषिणि वेदनुते।
पङ्कजवासिनि देवसुपूजित सद्गुणवर्षिणि शान्तियुते
जय जय हे मधुसूदन कामिनि आदिलक्ष्मि सदा पालय माम्॥१॥
One Who is worshipped by the righteous ones, Who is beautiful, Who is the consort of Madhava and the sister of the Moon, Who is the embodiment of gold (resembling Swarna Vigraham), Who is surrounded by the sages worshipping Her, Who gives the supreme boon of Moksha (liberation), Who speaks softly and sweetly, and Who is eulogized (praised) by the eternal Vedas,
Who resides on the lotus, Who is worshipped by all the Devas, Who is the giver of good qualities, and Who is the embodiment of tranquility, Victory to You O the dearest of Madhusudana (Krishna)! O Adi Lakshmi (the first form of the Goddess Lakshmi Who is embodied to grant life’s foremost aim – freedom from the cycle of birth and death), please protect me always!
अहिकलि कल्मषनाशिनि कामिनि वैदिकरूपिणि वेदमये
क्षीरसमुद्भव मङ्गलरूपिणि मन्त्रनिवासिनि मन्त्रनुते।
मङ्गलदायिनि अम्बुजवासिनि देवगणाश्रित पादयुते
जय जय हे मधुसूदन कामिनि धान्यलक्ष्मि सदा पालय माम् ॥२॥
One Who destroys the sins of Kali Yuga, Who is the personification of the Vedas and pervades in the Vedas, Who has emerged from the milky ocean in an auspicious form, Who resides in the holy sacred chants, as well as saluted by these chants,
Who blesses us with all auspiciousness, Who resides on the lotus flower, and Whose feet are the source of refuge to the Devas, Victory to You O the dearest of Madhusudana! O Dhanya Lakshmi (the Goddess of food grains), please protect me always!
जयवरवर्णिनि वैष्णवि भार्गवि मन्त्रस्वरूपिणि मन्त्रमये
सुरगणपूजित शीघ्रफलप्रद ज्ञानविकासिनि शास्त्रनुते।
भवभयहारिणि पापविमोचनि साधुजनाश्रित पादयुते
जय जय हे मधुसूधन कामिनि धैर्यलक्ष्मि सदा पालय माम् ॥३॥
One Who is devoutly described by the victorious and the blessed ones, Who is the power emanated from Vishnu, Who is the daughter of sage Bhrigu, Who is the embodiment and the essence of Mantras, Who is praised by the victorious ones, Who quickly grants the desired boons of Her devotees, Who improves the wisdom and knowledge, and Who is praised by the Shastras,
Who destroys the material attachment and fear thus liberating us from sins, and Whose sacred feet is held by the holy people as their means and goal for Moksha, Victory to You O the dearest of Madhusudana! O Dhairya Lakshmi (the Goddess of patience, valor and courage), please protect me always!
जय जय दुर्गतिनाशिनि कामिनि सर्वफलप्रद शास्त्रमये
रथगज तुरगपदादि समावृत परिजनमण्डित लोकनुते।
हरिहर ब्रह्म सुपूजित सेवित तापनिवारिणि पादयुते
जय जय हे मधुसूदन कामिनि गजलक्ष्मि रूपेण पालय माम् ॥४॥
Victory to You O the destroyer of misfortunes, the beautiful One, and the bestower of all kinds of wishes. Who is the personification of Shastras, Who is surrounded by chariots, elephants and people, and Who is worshipped by the entire world,
Who is worshipped and served by Vishnu, Shiva and Brahma, and Who has a sacred feet that removes the anxieties of unfulfilled desires, Victory to You O the dearest of Madhusudana! O Gaja Lakshmi (the Goddess of power and royalty), please protect me always!
अहिखग वाहिनि मोहिनि चक्रिणि रागविवर्धिनि ज्ञानमये
गुणगणवारिधि लोकहितैषिणि स्वरसप्त भूषित गाननुते।
सकल सुरासुर देवमुनीश्वर मानववन्दित पादयुते
जय जय हे मधुसूदन कामिनि सन्तानलक्ष्मि त्वं पालय माम् ॥५॥
One Who has a Garuda as Her mount, Who is enchanting, Who holds discus in Her hands, Who increases the affection, Who is the embodiment of knowledge, Who is the ocean of good qualities, Who desires the wellbeing of all the worlds and its beings, and Who is worshipped by the songs that are incredibly composed with the seven svaras (notes),
And Whose feet is worshipped by all the Suras, Asuras, Devas, sages, and humans, Victory to You O the dearest of Madhusudana! O Santana Lakshmi (the Goddess of progeny), please protect me always!
जय कमलासनि सद्गतिदायिनि ज्ञानविकासिनि गानमये
अनुदिनमर्चित कुङ्कुमधूसर भूषित वासित वाद्यनुते।
कनकधरास्तुति वैभव वन्दित शङ्कर देशिक मान्य पदे
जय जय हे मधुसूदन कामिनि विजयलक्ष्मि सदा पालय माम् ॥६॥
One Who is seated on a lotus, Who shows the path of truth to Her devotees and develops their knowledge (Brahma Jnana), Who is pervaded by music, Who is covered with Kumkum flowers from the daily worship, and Who is worshipped with the auspicious sounds (emanating from Venu, Veena, and Mridanga),
Who is pleased by the prayer of golden rain (Kanakadhara Stuti/Stotram) by the great Shankaracharya and Swami Desikan, and Whose feet are worthy of praise, Victory to You O the dearest of Madhusudana! O Vijaya Lakshmi (the Goddess of victory), please protect me always!

प्रणत सुरेश्वरि भारति भार्गवि शोकविनाशिनि रत्नमये
मणिमयभूषित कर्णविभूषण शान्तिसमावृत हास्यमुखे।
नवनिधिदायिनि कलिमलहारिणि कामित फलप्रद हस्तयुते
जय जय हे मधुसूदन कामिनि विद्यालक्ष्मि सदा पालय माम् ॥७॥
Salutations to You Who is the Goddess of the great Suras, Who is in the form of Sarasvati, Who is the daughter of Maharshi Bhrigu, Who chases away all our sorrows, Who is radiant with all Her ornaments, Whose ears are adorned with earrings containing precious gems, and Who has a tranquil composition and smiling face,
Who blesses one with nine kinds of wealth, Who destroys the blemishes of Kali age and grants the desired boons with Her Varada hand (gesture of hand for granting boons), Victory to You O the dearest of Madhusudana! O Vidya Lakshmi (the Goddess of knowledge), please protect me always!
धिमिधिमि धिंधिमि धिंधिमि धिंधिमि दुन्दुभि नाद सुपूर्णमये
घुमघुम घुंघुम घुंघुम घुंघुम शङ्खनिनाद सुवाद्यनुते।
वेदपूराणेतिहास सुपूजित वैदिकमार्ग प्रदर्शयुते
जय जय हे मधुसूदन कामिनि धनलक्ष्मि रूपेण पालय माम् ॥८॥
One Who is in full perfection with the dhimi dhimi sounds played by big dundubi drums, Whose auspicious aarti is proceeded with the sounds of auspicious sounds of conch-shells reverberating all around with the sound of ghumaghuma ghunghuma,
Who is worshipped by the Vedas, Puranas and Itihasas, and Who shows the path of Vedic knowledge, Victory to You O the dearest of Madhusudana! O Dhana Lakshmi (the Goddess of wealth), please protect me always!
अष्टलक्ष्मी नमस्तुभ्यं वरदे कामरूपिणि ।
विष्णुवक्षःस्थला रूढे भक्त मोक्ष प्रदायिनि ॥
Salutations to You O the eight forms of Goddess Lakshmi, Who can manifest Herself in any desired form, Who is seated on the chest of Vishnu, and Who grants the boon of salvation to Her devotees.
शंख चक्रगदाहस्ते विश्वरूपिणिते जयः ।
जगन्मात्रे च मोहिन्यै मंगलं शुभ मंगलम् ॥
One Who is adorned with conch, discus and mace in Her hands, and Who is in the form of the world, Victory to You. O the Mother of the world and the One with the good complexion, please grant us auspiciousness and blessings.
इति श्री अष्टलक्ष्मी स्तोत्रं सम्पूर्णम् ॥
