Sri Hari Stotram
Sri Hari Stotram: Mantra with Meaning
Sri Hari Stotram is a hymn in the praise of Lord Hari (Vishnu), composed by Swami Brahmananda, one of the great ascetics. Regular recitation of this octet ends the miseries of birth and old age, and the devotee would reach the abode of Hari, which is free from pain and sufferings.
Composed By: Swami Brahmananda
Lord Vishnu
Play the music, and sing the stotra along with it
I adore Lord Hari, Who is the protector of the world, Who is adorned with shining garland on His neck, Who has a forehead radiant like the autumn-moon, Who is the destroyer of dreadful demons,
Who is blue hued like the sky, Whose Maya (illusions) are invincible, and Who is with His consort Padma (Lakshmi), I adore Him.
I adore Lord Hari, Who always lives in the sea, Who has a smile like a flower, Who lives with the good people in the world, Who has radiance like of hundred suns,
Who has mace and discus as armaments, Who shines in yellow silks, and Who has a beautiful face adorned with smile, I adore Him.
I adore Lord Hari, Who has the mark of Goddess Lakshmi as a garland on His neck, Who is the essence of the Vedas, Who lives and takes pleasure in the ocean, Who bears the weight of the Earth,
Who has eternally pleasing form that attracts the mind of everyone, and Who has taken many incarnations, I adore Him.
I adore Lord Hari, Who is free from birth and aging, Who is full of eternal bliss, Whose mind is always fixed in the true nature of the Spirit (Self), Who always looks fresh and young,
Who is the cause of birth in this world, Who is the protector of the demi-God's army, and Who is the bridge (support) for the three worlds, I adore Him.
I adore Lord Hari, Who is sung by the Vedas, Who has the king of birds as His mount, Who is the cause of salvation, Who removes the pride of enemies,
Who is favorable to His devotees, Who is the root of this tree-like world, and Who is the remover of all the sorrows, I adore Him.
I adore Lord Hari, Who is the Lord of all immortals (Devas), Whose hairs have bumble-bee color, Who has this Earth as a part of Him, Whose body is always clear like the sky,
Who has eternally divine body, Who has no attachments to this world, and Who resides in holy Vaikuntha, I adore Him.
I adore Lord Hari, Who is the strongest among Devas, Who is the greatest in the three worlds, Who is the heaviest among heavy ones, Who is manifested in only one form (Paramatma or Brahman),
Who is always heroic in battles, Who is the great hero of heroes, and Who lives in the bank of great ocean, I adore Him.
I adore Lord Hari, Who is accompanied by Lakshmi on His left, Who has the king of serpents on top, Who can be approached by Yajnas (sacrifices), Who is beyond colors and passion,
Who is sung by the sages, Who is served by the Devas, and Who is beyond all qualities, I adore Him.
One who reads, with peace mind, this octet of Lord Hari which is like the garland of Murari (Krishna/Vishnu),
Would definitely reach the abode of Him, which is always free of sorrows, and he never again partakes the pain of birth and old age.
Thus ends glorious Stotra of Lord Hari composed by Swami Brahmananda.

DeleteHi,can you please provide me the original texts along with the source as it is,like where it was mentioned the very first time.I had learnt it by heart and liked this hymn very much since I found it on YouTube, but soon I figured out that, there is some difference in the wordings of the lyrics and the singers. Then when I tried to confirm the lyrics from different videos or different webpages from internet, each showing some changes or the other, which caused a lot of confusion and put me in a dilemma, which to believe.I don't want to chant it wrong.Kindly provide some evidence, that the lyrics given here is actual else I have to wait till I learn Sanskrit and proofread it myself.
ReplyDeleteRegards,
Rishabh
I take the reference of different websites. Among them, sanskritdocuments.org, and greenmesg.org is what I prefer much. And we cannot find the original source because originally every stotras are written by Sages in papers. So, we need to prefer websites that have ".org" as a domain name rather than ".com". Thank You for your comment.
DeleteReally Amazing. Should be a Great Learned Saint to pen such a Super Stotram.

Deleteरमावामभागं तलानग्रनागं was translated wrongly. I heard it in the audio. it should be translated as Talaa-nagra naagam. It s not nagna it is meant talaan agra means top are first. I don't know talaan meaning in sanscrit, but it means head in telugu. Nagna means bare. it doesn't sounds good to tell a snake is bare. I think the meaning is, Sri Hari had Ramaa(Lakshmi) on his left and Snake(Vaasuki) on top side of his head.
ReplyDeleteYes, you are right. I referred bonafide sites and found that it is talaanagra. Thank you for your feedback. I highly appreciate such feedbacks. And i have corrected it too.
DeleteActually, Sri Hari Stotram was published in this blog while i was in the beginning of creating this blog. So, I may have missed some perfection. I was inspired by few Stotras (which i had never heard before) that made me create this blog. Later, when I began to upload more and more stotras, I also learnt which sites to give more priority or contain most accurate words. So, my initial publications could have some imperfections (even though I have a habit of rechecking from time to time). And to add, this error you found is really very difficult to find since 80% of pages, audios and videos found in the Internet translates Nagna. I thank you once again for finding such elusive mistake.

DeleteTell one one thing, why download button is there when download is forbidden and failing.
ReplyDeleteThank You for pointing it. I hadn't noticed it. Previously I used to store music in Google Sites, but since it had some limitations, I migrated them all to Google Drive, and now the music gets played from Google Drive. Since it's not the direct URL of Google Drive (but was generated using specific tool), the music might have not been downloaded. Also, the download option was not set by me, it was just there. I only used the tag and nothing else.
DeleteI want to pay you 500 INR from India, how I do it and also,
ReplyDeleteplease add this strotam of Mahalakshmi in your website as in given link -

You can click "DONATE US" link in the top-right and see the details. To download, I request you to either use IDM (it works because I've tried), or you can send me your email address and I will send you the audio. Since the audio is not my own creation, I cannot hold it back from providing you too. And thanks for your recommendation. I will add Ashtalakshmi Stotram soon. :)
DeleteAshtalakshmi Stotram will be published on the auspicious morning of Lakshmi Puja (Kartik 7).
