Madhurashtakam: Mantra with Meaning
Madhurashtakam is a Sanskrit composition in devotion of Lord Krishna, composed by the Hindu sage-philosopher Sripad Vallabha Acharya. Vallabha is regarded as an Acharya and Guru within the Vaishnava traditions of Rajasthan and Gujarat. In this devotional hymn, he has described the lovely attributes and joyous past-times of Lord Krishna who is sweetness personified (Madhura represents sweet).

॥ मधुराष्टकम् ॥
अधरं मधुरं वदनं मधुरं नयनं मधुरं हसितं मधुरम् ।
हृदयं मधुरं गमनं मधुरं मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ॥१॥
Sweet are Your lips, O Krishna, so is Your charming face; sweet are Your eyes, and so is Your soulful laugh,
Sweet is Your loving heart, so is Your beautiful gait. O lord of sweetness, everything about You is sweet.
वचनं मधुरं चरितं मधुरं वसनं मधुरं वलितं मधुरम् ।
चलितं मधुरं भ्रमितं मधुरं मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ॥२॥
Sweet are Your speech, O Krishna, so is Your divine nature; sweet are Your garments, and so is Your posture,
Sweet are Your movements, so is Your Maya (illusion). O lord of sweetness, everything about You is sweet.
वेणुर्मधुरो रेणुर्मधुरः पाणिर्मधुरः पादौ मधुरौ ।
नृत्यं मधुरं सख्यं मधुरं मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ॥३॥
Sweet is Your flute, O Krishna, so is Your foot-dust; sweet are Your hands, and so are Your feet,
Sweet is Your dance, so is Your friendship. O lord of sweetness, everything about You is sweet.
गीतं मधुरं पीतं मधुरं भुक्तं मधुरं सुप्तं मधुरम् ।
रूपं मधुरं तिलकं मधुरं मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ॥४॥
Sweet is Your Singing, O Krishna, so is Your drinking; sweet is Your eating, and so is Your sleeping,
Sweet is Your form, so is Your mark on forehead (Tilaka). O lord of sweetness, everything about You is sweet.
करणं मधुरं तरणं मधुरं हरणं मधुरं रमणं मधुरम् ।
वमितं मधुरं शमितं मधुरं मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ॥५॥
Sweet are Your deeds, O Krishna, so is Your path of salvation; sweet are Your thefts (butter and pure love of Gopinis), and so is Your divine play of love,
Sweet are Your oblations (offerings), so is Your tranquility. O lord of sweetness, everything about You is sweet.
गुञ्जा मधुरा माला मधुरा यमुना मधुरा वीची मधुरा ।
सलिलं मधुरं कमलं मधुरं मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ॥६॥
Sweet are Your rosary pea-berries (woven in necklace), O Krishna, so is Your garland of flowers; sweet is Your river Yamuna, and so are Your waves (of Yamuna),
Sweet are Your ripples (of Yamuna), so are Your lotuses (of Yamuna). O lord of sweetness, everything about You is sweet.
गोपी मधुरा लीला मधुरा युक्तं मधुरं मुक्तं मधुरम् ।
दृष्टं मधुरं शिष्टं मधुरं मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ॥७॥
Sweet are Your Gopis (cowherd girls), O Krishna, so is Your divine play; sweet is Your togetherness, and so is Your salvation (setting free),
Sweet is Your glance, so is Your courtesy. O lord of sweetness, everything about You is sweet.
गोपा मधुरा गावो मधुरा यष्टिर्मधुरा सृष्टिर्मधुरा ।
दलितं मधुरं फलितं मधुरं मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ॥८॥
Sweet are Your Gopas (cowherd boys), O Krishna, so are Your cows; sweet is Your staff (herding stick), and so is Your creation,
Sweet is Your breaking, so is Your making. O lord of sweetness, everything about You is sweet.
॥ इति श्रीमद्वल्लभाचार्यविरचितं मधुराष्टकं सम्पूर्णम् ॥
